Stay focused under pressure

Many times we have stressful situations where we need our minds even more, but it loses control and doesn’t come to our aid.

How does someone train themselves to handle such situations better ?

While learning martial arts (Krav Maga) and under many sparring sessions during that time — the first thing that our instructor told me to focus on — was BREATHING.

And, suddenly I realized that yes. I (and ofcourse, all the students) stop breathing when we are sparring and are in the middle of punches.

Because, as soon as adrenaline rushes into our blood, our mind comes under high pressure to perform.

And, when its is under stress to perform, it allocates all its resources to handle that pressure, instead of providing resources to problem-solve.

Hence, with breathing our mind stays under control, and is not highjacked.

It still has some resources to allocate for problem-solving.

This is how all the high achievers handle pressure.

Remember to breathe.

Another thing that helps — is train your mind to be in better control of your emotions.

An easy way to learn that is by learning to meditate

If you learn to meditate and do it regularly — your mind keeps control and check on your emotions. And this is of great help when you are under high pressure situations.

These high pressure situations demand calm mind. And meditation helps in obtaining a calm mind
